God of War Ragnarok Lost Treasury Walkthrough

God of War Ragnarok offers a vast array of optional regions filled with intricate environmental puzzles and valuable legendary loot. Located in the frozen realm of Midgard, the Lost Treasury stands out as a particularly rewarding location that ties directly into the backstory of major characters. Navigating this area requires both careful exploration across the Lake of Nine and a solid strategy to solve its massive mechanical barriers.

Acquiring the Hidden Vault Keys

Before you can fully unlock the secrets within the structure, you must secure two halves of a broken vault key scattered around Midgard. The first key piece is waiting at the end of the Derelict Outpost, an optional sub-dungeon located in the southwestern portion of the map. To find the second piece, you will need to head northeast to the Oarsmen area and solve the introductory navigation puzzle near Tyr's ruined statue.

Once both pieces are safely in your inventory, they combine into a functional item required for the final vault room. Attempting to bypass these locations will leave you locked out of the main lore objective inside the treasury. Taking the time to gather these keys beforehand ensures a smooth and efficient gameplay experience later on.

Solving the Giant Shield Puzzle

Arriving at the main structure reveals that Tyr's massive stone shield is completely blocking the front gate. To manipulate this obstacle, interact with the red marker using your Blades of Chaos and slide the shield to the right. Climb up the right side to reach the roof where an explosive pot can be detonated to clear away debris obstructing a stone pillar.

After clearing the debris, return to ground level and slide the shield all the way to the left side. Climb back up the left pathway and pull the newly cleared stone pillar into a position that restricts the shield's movement. When you descend and pull the shield back to the right, it will catch on the pillar and rest perfectly in the center alignment.

Freezing the Gate Gears

With the shield resting in the middle position, you can now interact with the large wooden wheel mechanism to raise the internal gates. Turning the wheel exposes two massive gears on the left and right sides that control the locking mechanism. Because the gates slam shut instantly when you let go, you must utilize specialized combat abilities to hold them open.

Instruct your companion to shoot Sigil Arrows at the exposed gears, then throw your Leviathan Axe to freeze the mechanism temporarily. Quickly recall your weapon and repeat the process on the opposite side before the frost effect wears off. Once both gears are securely locked in place, sprint quickly into the newly opened entryway to access the interior.

Defeating the Vault Guardian and Collecting Rewards

Immediately upon entering the main room, look back toward the entrance and locate a structural chain holding the heavy gates. Smash this chain with your weapon to permanently secure the entrance so you do not get trapped inside. From there, you can burn away the red vines blocking the left door and use your assembled vault key to open the inner chamber.

Inside the vault, you must defeat a powerful Traveler Champion enemy that challenges you in a tightly confined combat space. After clearing the room, read the glowing Lore Marker to successfully conclude the associated regional favor. Do not forget to look around for a hidden ceiling point that allows you to crash through the floor to discover an elusive Lost Page scroll.
